Edison, NJ - Luka Van Cauteren of Manhattan College has been selected the 2003 MAAC Volleyball player of the year by the leagues head coaches and headlines the All-MAAC Team.
Van Cauteren earned this award by leading the MAAC in kills during the regular season. She recorded 515 kills for the season; averaging 4.81 per game and had 20 triple-doubles during the season.
Joining Van Cauteren on the All-MAAC first team is teammate Maggie Pfeifer, Tzvetomila Dotcheva of Saint Peter's College, Emily Mansur of Iona College, Kristin Anderson of Fairfield University and Leigh Launhardt of Canisius College.
On the second team are Fairfield's Casey Machon and Laurie Brands, Iona's Colleen Walker and Miki Hogg, Saint Peter's Serru Soylu, Niagara's Michelle LeSouder and Siena's Lauren Weber.
Mary Boller of Canisius College was named the 2003 MAAC Rookie of the Year, while Niagara's Micole Daluisio won the Defensive Player of the Year award.
Canisius head coach Cathy Hummel won Coach of the Year honors after leading the Golden Griffs to a 16-13 record and a 5-4 MAAC record.
