MAAC Announces 2007 Men's Tennis All-MAAC Awards

Edison, NJ ? The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced today the members of the 2007 Men’s Tennis All-MAAC Teams, highlighted by Manhattan’s Bogdan Borta who was selected Player of the Year.
Also earning individual honors was Marist’s Loic Sessagesimi, who earned Rookie of the Year honors, while Siena head coach Jim Serbalik was selected Coach of the Year.
Borta, a sophomore from Bacua, Romania, claimed player of the year honors for the second straight season, compiling a 19-8 (14-4 dual match play) singles record. In doubles play, Borta earned a 9-8 record. Last month at the MAAC Championships, Borta earned Most Outstanding Player honors for the second consecutive season.
Sessagesimi had a fine freshman campaign for the Red Foxes. His 19-5 record at No. 2 singles helped him earned rookie of the year honors. He also compiled a 16-3 doubles record. Sessagesimi claimed rookie of the week honors once this season.
Serbalik led the Saints to an overall record of 7-11, while going 3-4 in the MAAC play this season. Siena earned the fifth seed at last month’s tennis championships.
