MAAC Sports
Edison, NJ ? The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the members of the 2009 Men’s Tennis All-MAAC teams, highlighted by Fairfield’s Joe Michalisin, who was selected Player of the Year.
Michalisin was also named the MAAC Rookie of the Year, while the Stags’ head coach, Ed Paige, was named Coach of the Year.
Michalisin, a freshman from Melville, New York, finished the season with a 27-5 singles record, including an 18-2 mark in dual matches. He finished 5-1 in conference play and ended the season with a 13 match winning streak. In doubles play, he teamed with Rob Ferrante at the number one doubles spot for most of the season, and tallied a record of 11-7.
Fairfield Coach Ed Paige is in his third season with the Stags, and earns Coach of the Year honors for the second consecutive year. Last season, both the men’s and women’s teams finished second at the MAAC Championships, a performance that was duplicated by the men’s squad this season.
