Niagara Picked First By MAAC Volleyball Coaches

Edison, NJ - Niagara University has been selected to defend its championship and claim the 2010 MAAC Volleyball title as they finished first on the coaches' preseason poll.
 
Niagara, who won the 2009 MAAC Volleyball Championship by defeating Marist College, finished on top of the poll with 93 points. Fairfield University received 92 points to finish second. Marist was third with 68 points, while Siena College was fourth with 66. Iona College had 58 points, followed by Loyola University (57), Canisius College (44), Saint Peter's College (29), Manhattan College (28), and Rider University (15).

Loyola's Nina Camaioni and Niagara's Michelle James were selected as the Co-Preseason Players of the Year. Camaioni was voted to the All-MAAC First Team a year ago. She finished second overall in kills (4.49) and points (4.85). James was also an All-MAAC First Team selection and is the reigning MAAC Setter of the Year after she led the conference with 10.77 assists per set. She was named Co-Rookie of the Year in 2008.

Joining Camaioni and James on the preseason All-MAAC Team are Canisius' Samantha Good, Iona's Allison Nieters, Marist's Lindsey Schmid, Niagara, Hannah Hedrick, and Siena's Aubrey Bobo.
