MAAC Announces 2011 Men's Tennis Awards

Edison, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the members of the 2011 Men’s Tennis All-MAAC teams, highlighted by Marist’s Lorenzo Rossi, who was selected as the league’s Player of the Year.

Rossi was also named the league’s Rookie of the Year, while Marist head coach Tim Smith earned Anaconda Sports Coach of the Year honors.

Rossi, a freshman from Lugano, Switzerland, finished the season with an overall record of 18-3 and a perfect 6-0 mark in MAAC play. He went 14-1 at first singles and has a 10-match winning streak heading into the NCAA Championship. Rossi, along with teammate Will Reznek, posted a record 6-0 record in league matches at third doubles (16-3 overall).

Smith, currently in his 14th season at Marist, led the Red Foxes to a 6-0 record in the conference and the program’s fourth straight MAAC Championship. Marist has an overall record of 18-3 and will appear in its ninth NCAA Tournament.
