2013 Men's Tennis All-MAAC Awards

Edison, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the members of the 2013 Men’s Tennis All-MAAC teams, highlighted by Marist’s Dalen Klassen, who was selected as the league’s Player of the Year while fellow teammate Fredrik Bjerke was named Rookie of the Year.

Niagara head coach Anthony Nguyen earned Anaconda Sports Coach of the Year honors. 

Klassen, a Junior from Saint Louis, Mo., finished the regular season with an overall record of 23-9 and a 2-1 mark in MAAC play. He went 6-3 at second singles. Klassen was named to the 2012 All-MAAC First Team at No. 6 Singles and All-MAAC Second Team at No. 3 Doubles. He also earned All-MAAC First Team honors this year at No. 1 Doubles with his partner Billy Bishop.

Bjerke, a Freshman from Oslo, Norway, finished the regular season with an overall record of 11-3 and 5-1 in the MAAC.  Bjerke also earned All-MAAC First Team honors at No. 6 singles.

Nguyen, currently in his 5th season as the Niagara men’s tennis coach and led the Purple Eagles to a 4-2 record in the conference. Niagara has an overall record of 14-9.
