MAAC Announces Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards
Women’s Track Performer of the Week
Chandi Piiru, Monmouth
Jr., East Orange, NJ/Union Catholic
Chandi Piiru won the 500 meters with a time of 1:12.85 at the Scarlet White Invitational, qualifying for the ECAC Championship. Piiru now has the top time in the MAAC in the event.
Men’s Track Performer of the Week
Bryan Sosoo, Monmouth
Sr., Laurel, MD/Reservior
Monmouth senior, Bryan Sosoo took first in the 60-meter dash at the Scarlett and White Invitational in 6.78. The time is top in the MAAC this year. Sosoo also won the triple jump with a mark of 47’1.5”.
Women’s Field Performer of the Week
Carly Timpson, Quinnipiac
Jr., Narragansett, RI/Narragansett
Carly Timpson recorded a high jump of 1.74 meters to earn a share of first place at the New England Championships. The mark is a new personal record and school record for the junior, as well as the top mark in the MAAC this year.
Men’s Field Performer of the Week
Brenton Foster, Manhattan
So., Townsville, Austrailia/William Ross
Brenton Foster took first place in the high jump and long jump events at the Metropolitan Indoor Championships. The Australian native recorded a high jump of 2.09 meters and a long jump of 6.96 meters. His long jump ranks fifth in the MAAC this year and he also holds the top high jump (2.24), which he set back on December 1.
