Manhattan Men, Rider Women Claim Indoor Track & Field Championships

New York, NY ?“ Manhattan College earned their 11th consecutive MAAC men?™s indoor track & field championship today, while the women?™s team at Rider University claimed their first indoor title after snapping the Jasper women?™s 10 year streak of victories.

The Jasper men earned 176 points to lead all scores, while Rider earned 195 points to claim victory.

Rider?™s Jazmine Fenlator and Manhattan?™s Tiina Magi were selected Co-Most Outstanding Field Female Performers. Fenlator earned first place finishes in both the weight throw and shot put, where she set a new MAAC record with her 14.80m toss. Magi earned gold medals in the long jump, pole vault and triple jump. Marist?™s Chrissy McDevitt was named Most Outstanding Track Female performer for her first place finishes in the 200 meter dash and 55 meter hurdles.

After breaking a conference record in the shot put with a toss of 19.40, Manhattan?™s Milian Jotanovic was selected Most Outstanding Field Male Performer. Rider?™s David Payne was selected Most Outstanding Track Male Performer for his first place finishes in the 200 meter dash and the 55 meter dash.

Rider?™s Rob Pasquariello was selected women?™s coach of the year after leading the Bronc women to their first indoor title, while Dan Mecca earned men?™s coach of the year honors for leading the Jaspers to their 11th consecutive indoor title.

Manhattan?™s Darnell Douglas broke the only other MAAC record of the meet, with a time of 48.75 in the 400 meter dash. The previous record had stood since 1990, when Manhattan?™s Steve Neal earned a time of 48.88.

Women?™s Scores: Rider 195, Manhattan 169.5, Marist 94.5, Iona 82, Loyola 63, Saint Peter?™s 5.
