From 2001 to 2004, Jewonda Bright Jenkins starred for the Monmouth University women’s basketball team.
Bright Jenkins brought tremendous energy and athleticism to the Hawks, ending her playing career as an exceptional post player. During her senior year, she was named to the All-NEC Second Team and Northeast Conference All-Tournament team, eventually finishing her tenure averaging 13.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per outing.
Bright Jenkins currently ranks 10th on the Monmouth all-time scoring list with 1,121 points, which she accumulated in only three seasons for the Hawks. She also ranks 15th on the all-time rebounding list with 569 boards for her career.
Bright Jenkins scored a career-high 36 points against Sacred Heart in 2004, which are the fifth-most points in a single game in program history.
With 440 field goals made on 788 attempts, she has the highest field goal percentage in Monmouth history (55.8%). She also ranks ninth on the career blocks list with 88. A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Bright Jenkins graduated with a degree in biology.
