For 33 years, Joan Martin was a fixture in the Monmouth athletics program, serving as a coach, assistant and associate athletics director, senior women’s administrator and compliance director. Martin began as a coach at Monmouth in 1969, and remained there for 13 years until she joined the administration. Martin coached the Monmouth women’s basketball team for 13 years, and also served as softball coach for 11 years and field hockey coach for eight years.  She moved into administration in a full-time role in 1982, and has spearheaded the establishment, development and continued growth of the women’s athletics program at Monmouth, to where it is today, a comprehensive 11-sport program.
