MAAC Announces 2005 New York Lottery Softball All-Academic Team

EDISON, NJ - A total of 47 athletes comprise the 2005 New York Lottery MAAC Softball All-Academic Team, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced today.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution, be a significant starter or reserve and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Manhattan College led all schools with 11 members named to the team. Iona College had eight members. Marist College and Rider University both had six student-athletes, while Fairfield University had five athletes named to the team. Saint Peter's College added four student-athletes. Niagara University and Siena College both had three athletes, while Canisius College rounded out the team with one athlete.

In addition, Manhattan's Elizabeth Strein was named the 2005 New York Lottery Scholar-Athlete of the Year for softball.
