Siena and Niagara Advance to the Quarterfinals of the 2007 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. ? Niagara University, the seventh seed, and Siena College, the eighth seed, both advanced to the second day of the 2007 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.

 

In the first game of the day, Niagara earned a 6-1 victory over 10th-seeded Manhattan College. Matthew Durand scored two goals for the Purple Eagles, while teammate Miles Patterson recorded a goal and two assists. Niagara will take on #2 Saint Peter’s College at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 15.

 

In game two, Siena knocked out ninth seed Rider University with a 6-2 win.  Thomas Ciavacco registered a hat trick to help lead the Saints to the quarterfinals.  Siena will now take on top-seeded Loyola College at 1:45 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.

 

In the two other games set for tomorrow, #3 Fairfield University faces #6 Marist College at 11:00 a.m., while #4 Canisius College takes on #5 Iona College at 2:00 p.m.

 

The winner of the 2007 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship.
