Lake Buena Vista, Fla. ? Loyola College advanced to the title game of the 2007 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship with a 3-0 win over Canisius College in the first semifinal game of the tournament at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.

The top-seeded Greyhounds got on the scoreboard just under four minutes into the game as Phil Bannister gathered a loose ball in the top of the box, and sent it to Glenn Leitch, who put in the right corner of the net.  Loyola then upped the score again with just over 16 minutes off the clock in the first half as Daniel Ankrah found the back of the net, with help from Bannister.

Leitch then closed out the offensive effort for the Greyhounds by netting a shot right into the middle of the net at the 73:49 mark of the contest, again aided by Bannister.

Milos Kocic recorded his 14th shutout of the season, posting three saves for Loyola.  Canisius’ Adam Catley recorded three saves for the fourth-seeded Golden Griffins.  Loyola is now 17-3 overall, while Canisius closed out its season at 8-12.

Loyola will play the winner of the Fairfield University/Saint Peter’s College second semifinal game this afternoon.  The winner of the 2007 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship will earn an automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship.
