Saint Peter's Earns 2-1 Victory Over Fairfield in MAAC Men's Soccer Semifinal

Lake Buena Vista Fla. ? Saint Peter’s College earned a 2-1 victory over Fairfield University in the second semifinal game of the 2007 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.
Fairfield’s Tucker Nathans netted the first goal of the afternoon, heading in a pass from Erik Illsije at the 13:45 mark. With just 23 seconds left in the first half, Saint Peter’s Victor Prada tied the game with his third goal of the year.
Just as it appeared that the game would be going to overtime, Saint Peter’s Juan Gaviria knocked in a pass from Udi Naim with just 23 minutes remaining in the contest to advance the Peacocks to their third MAAC Championship game.
Saint Peter’s Matthew Lawlor registered two saves in goal for the second-seeded Peacocks. Fairfield netminder Jon Paul Francini recorded one save for the third-seeded Stags. Saint Peter’s is now 15-4-1 entering the championship game, while Fairfield concluded its season at 11-6-2 overall.
Saint Peter’s will face top-seeded Loyola College in the championship game on Sunday, November 18, at 1:00 p.m. The winner of the 2007 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship will earn an automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship.
