Marist Earns 2-1 Victory over Niagara in MAAC Women's Soccer Semifinal

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. ? Marist College earned a 2-1 victory over Niagara University in the second semifinal game of the 2007 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship at the Red Foxes’ Tenney Stadium.
The Purple Eagles got on the scoreboard first at the 16:15 mark as Christina Langrell rolled in a pass from Shaylyn Lawrence to the right corner of the net for her first goal this season.
The Red Foxes then evened things up at the 19:35 mark of the first half as Alexandra Lauterborn found the back of the net unassisted.
With just over nine minutes remaining in the game, Marist’s Katie Zasly knocked in a pass from Keri Koegel for her sixth goal of the year to give the Red Foxes the win.
Allison Lane finished the night with six saves between the pipes for Marist. Niagara netminder Ashleigh Bowers recorded four saves for the fourth-seeded Purple Eagles. Marist is now 11-4-3 entering the championship game, while Niagara concluded its season at 10-7-2 overall.
Marist will face third-seeded Loyola College in the championship game on Sunday, November 11, at 12:00 p.m., live on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network. The winner of the 2007 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship will earn an automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship.
