Marist's Matt Brady
Bridgeport, Conn. “Marist College men's basketball coach Matt Brady has been selected as the 2007 The Rock Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, by his peers” the MAAC's head coaches.

Brady, in his third season with the Red Foxes and overall as a Division I head coach, earns the honor after leading Marist to its first-ever MAAC regular season title with an overall record of 23-7, including an 14-4 MAAC ledger, and earning the number one seed in the 2007 Bank of America MAAC Basketball Championship.

Last season, Brady guided Marist to 19 wins for just the fifth time in the school's 25-year history as a Division I program. The 2005-06 season included an eight-game win streak, the longest in more than six seasons. During that streak, Marist defeated seven conference opponents, setting the tone for a 12-3 mark against MAAC teams leading up to the postseason, where the Red Foxes earned the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament.

Brady came to Marist after an 11-year stint as an assistant coach at Saint Joseph's University. He made a mark while on the Hawks bench, including four NCAA Tournament appearances, three NIT berths, four Big 5 Championships and three Atlantic 10 titles. In 2003-04, Brady aided the Hawks as the squad went 27-0 during the regular season and finished with a 30-2 overall record. The Hawks earned a No. 1 national ranking, garnered a top seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history and advanced to the Elite Eight.

Brady began his coaching career in 1987 as a member of Tom Penders staff at the University of Rhode Island. He made his first NCAA Tourney appearance at URI, helping the Rams to a Sweet Sixteen berth in 1988. After two seasons with the Rams, Brady moved on to Wagner College, where he served as the top assistant to Tim Capstraw for four seasons.

No stranger to the MAAC, Brady was a standout during his playing days, enjoying a successful four-year career at Siena. Over the course of his career as a Saint, Brady played in 114 games, making starts in 92. He graduated as the school's all-time leader in assists (593). Inducted into the Siena Hall of Fame in 1993, Brady averaged 9.68 points per game, while shooting 45.9 percent from the floor for his career.
