Fairfield Earns 4-0 Victory Over Siena in MAAC Men's Soccer Semifinal

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. ? Third-seeded Fairfield University earned a 4-0 victory over second-seeded Siena College in the second semifinal game of the 2008 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship at Tenney Stadium on the campus of Marist College.
Fairfield’s freshman forward Justin Burridge netted the first goal of the evening, heading in a pass from junior midfielder Christian Uy at the 35:46 mark.
Uy added the second goal in the 61st minute, taking a pass from his brother, sophomore midfielder Matthew Uy, and beating out the keeper. At the 79th minute, Matthew Uy scored a goal of his own, aided by Christian Uy. With 1:32 left in the contest, sophomore midfielder Shane Kurtz scored his first goal of the season as the Stags advanced to their 11th MAAC Championship game.
Justin Burse registered four saves, en route to registering his seventh shutout of the year for the Stags. Siena netminder Steve Skonieczny recorded two saves for the Saints. Fairfield is now 10-7 entering the championship game, while Siena concluded its season at 9-8-1 overall.
Fairfield will face top-seeded Loyola College in the championship game on Sunday, November 16, at 12:00 p.m. The title game will air live on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network. The winner of the 2008 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship will earn the league’s automatic bid to the 2008 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship.
