Siena Wins Fourth Straight MAAC Volleyball Championship

Loudonville, NY - Siena College defeated Fairfield University, 3-0, to win the 2008 MAAC Volleyball Championship. It is the fourth straight league title for the Saints, who receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
Siena is now 8-0 in MAAC Championship Match history and have won four in a row on two separate occasions.
Siena middle hitter Burgandy McCurty, a two-time MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. McCurty posted a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs. Kelly Hummel, a member of the All-Tournament team, added 13 digs.
The first set of the match saw the score tied on ten separate occasions and the lead change hands four times. The Saints rallied towards the end of the set and pulled out a 27-25 victory. Siena used that momentum to propel them to a 25-17 second set win and a commanding 2-0 lead. Siena clinched the championship with a 25-23 victory in set three.
The NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball selection show is scheduled for Sunday, November 30th between 10 and 10:30 p.m. It will be aired live on ESPNU.
