Loyola Men, Siena Women Lead After Day One of 2008 MAAC Golf Championships

Lake Buena Vista, Fla.- The Loyola College men’s team and the Siena College women’s team lead the way after the first round of the 2008 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships at the Magnolia Golf Course in Walt Disney World.
The Greyhounds posted a team score of 299 after the first day of the 54-hole tournament, led by Matt Bassler finishing with a score of 69. Fairfield University finished the day in second place with a score of 300. Rider University is currently in third place with a score of 303. Niagara University (304) is fourth, Iona College and Siena College are tied for fifth (311), while Canisius College (321), Manhattan College (330) and Saint Peters College (331) round out the field.
For the women, Siena leads with a team score of 322 after round one of the 54-hole tournament. Fairfield completed the first round in second place with a score of 333. Siena’s Melissa Agostinelli and Fairfield’s Courtney Richardson posted 78’s to lead the way.
Competition will resume tomorrow with the men teeing off at 7:30 a.m. and the women teeing off at 8:30 a.m.
