Rider University Advances to Championship Game of the 2008 MAAC Baseball Championship

Trenton, N.J. ? Fourth-seeded Rider University (28-25) advanced to the title game with a 3-0 victory over Siena College (28-25) in game four of the 2008 MAAC Baseball Championship at Waterfront Park.

Rider posted its first two runs in the top of the second inning as Jon Leise scored on a wild pitch and Matt McCollum reach home plate on a single by James Hayes.

 

The Broncs added one more run in the top of the third, with Leise knocking a single to Siena shortstop Chris Klepps to bring in Sean Olson.

 

Rider’s Jimmer Kennedy was credited with the win (7-4), while James Hayes recorded his 11th save this season.  Siena’s Zach Hartman fell to 8-1 on the year.

 

Rider will play the winner of tonight’s Siena/Canisius College game in Game 6 on Saturday, May 24, at 1:00 p.m.
