Manhattan Men and Women Lead After Day One

Lawrenceville, NJ - The Manhattan College men and women lead after the first day of the 2008 MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.

The Jasper men finished the day with 84 points, followed by Iona with 34, Rider with 19, and Saint Peter's and Marist with 9.

On the women's side, the Jaspers collected 84 points, followed by Rider with 55 and Marist with 21. Iona sits in fourth place (19) followed by Loyola (11) and Saint Peter's (4).

Manhattan's Sarah Rogers set a new meet record in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:11.57, breaking the record set last year by more than 11 seconds.

The 2008 MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships continue tomorrow from Rider University, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
