MAAC Golf Championships Move to Celebration Golf Club

Edison, NJ ? The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships will move to Celebration Golf Club located in Celebration, Florida beginning in 2009, it was announced today.

Celebration Golf Club, established in 1996, was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and his son, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. It has been rated 4 ? Stars by Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play” and was named the Kissimmee/Osceola Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year in 2007. The course measures 6,800 yards and features water hazards on 17 of the 18 holes. PGA Tour member John Daly holds the course record at 63. 

“We have had a long relationship with Orlando and Disney’s sport’s complexes and we look forward to continuing that relationship at the nationally renowned Celebration Golf Club,” said MAAC Commissioner Richard Ensor.

Since 2000, the MAAC Golf Championship has been held at one of Disney’s courses in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course has hosted the tournament since 2005. The championship was played at various sites in New York from 1982 through 1998. There was no championship in 1999.
