Loyola Earns Final Slot in MAAC Women's Soccer Semifinals

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. - Top-seeded Loyola University Maryland earned the final slot in the MAAC Women's Soccer Championship semifinals after a 1-1 double overtime tie with ninth-seeded Manhattan College (Loyola advances on PKs, 5-4).
The Jaspers scored their goal just three and a half minutes into the game. Caroline Morse netted her eighth goal of the season into the right side of the net, assisted by Tara Gleason. The Greyhounds then tied it up about 15 minutes later as Nichole Schiro notched her ninth goal of the year off a rebound from a free kick taken by Kelly Thomas.
After completing the two sudden-victory stanzas, the game went to penalty kicks. After still being tied 4-4 after five penalty kicks, Manhattan missed their sixth shot taken by Jill Beauchamp. Loyola's Amanda Meehan found the back of the net on the Greyhounds' sixth shot, sending her squad to the MAAC semifinals.
Freshman goalkeeper Danielle Ippolito recorded five saves in net for Loyola, while freshman netminder Kara Davis posted three saves for Manhattan.
Loyola will face fifth-seeded Canisius College on Sunday, November 1 at 11:00 a.m.
