Marist Wins 2009 MAAC Men's Tennis Championship

Flushing, NY - Marist College defeated Fairfield University, 5-2, to win the 2009 MAAC Men's Tennis Championship at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. It is the seventh overall MAAC Championship for the Red Foxes.
Marist earned the doubles point with 8-5 victories at first and third doubles. Fairfield won 9-7 at second doubles.
In singles action, the Red Foxes picked up points from Loic Sessagesimi (6-4, 6-1) at the second spot, Nicolas Pisecky (6-3, 6-3) at third, Landon Greene (6-2, 6-2) at fifth, and Matt Himmelsbach (6-3, 1-6, 6-4) at sixth. Fairfield's points came from Joe Michalisin at first singles (4-6, 7-5, 10-6) and Robert Ferrante at fourth singles (0-6, 6-4, 6-2).
Marist's Loic Sessagesimi was named the 2009 MAAC Men's Tennis Championship Most Oustanding Performer. It is the second consecutive year that Sessagesimi has earned the award.
Marist will receive an automatic bid to the 2009 NCAA Championship.
