Katie Miranto Named MAAC Director of Championships & Special Events

Edison, N.J. ? Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Commissioner, Richard J. Ensor, Esq. has announced the hiring of Katie Miranto as Director of Championships and Special Events.
Miranto will be responsible for coordinating all MAAC Special Events, including NCAA Championships and MAAC Championships at Walt Disney World’s Wide World of Sports Complex. She will also be chair of the conference’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Miranto spent the last year as a sports finance intern at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, and also volunteered for event management teams at the complex. She also assisted the communications staff for the Orlando Magic during home games at Amway Arena.
Miranto was a four-year letter winner on the Canisius College softball team, and was named the 2008 MAAC Softball Co-Player of the Year and the 2007-08 MAAC Student-Athlete of the Year. She ranked in the MAAC’s top five in 13 different categories during her final season with the Griffs, batting .405 with 54 runs scored and 40 RBIs. While Miranto was a four-year starter for the program, Canisius went 116-77. She was a two-time MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, a three-time member of the All-MAAC First Team and a two-time NFCA Louisville Slugger All-Mid Atlantic Region First Team selection. A three-time member of the MAAC All-Academic Team and a 2008 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Third Team honoree, Miranto graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance in May 2008 and is completing her master’s of sports administration this summer.
