2010 All-MAAC Men's Soccer Teams Announced

Baltimore, Md. - Siena College sophomore forward Emery Welshman has been named the 2010 MAAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year by the league's head coaches and headlines this season's All-MAAC First Team.
Welshman, last year's MAAC Rookie of the Year, earned this award after leading the MAAC in scoring during the regular season. He has recorded 13 goals and three assists for 29 points this season for the Saints.
Saint Peter's College Assaf Sheleg was named the 2010 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year. Sheleg, a graduate student defender, won this award after helping the Peacocks go 7-1-1 in conference play, en route to earning the program's first MAAC regular season title as well as the top seed in the 2010 Chick-fil-A MAAC Men's Soccer Championship.
Iona College's Victor Munoz earned the 2010 MAAC Rookie of the Year award. The freshman forward recorded five assists this season, placing him in a tie for ninth place on the MAAC assists chart.
Joining Welshman at the forward position on the All-MAAC First Team are Jon Clements from Fairfield University, Mario Rios from Iona, Phil Bannister from Loyola University Maryland and Stephan Brossard from Marist College. At the midfield are Marist's Krystian Witkowski, Niagara University's Carl Haworth and Saint Peter's Lebogang Pila. Sheleg, Fairfield's Jonny Raj and Todd Rutledge as well as Loyola's Gerwyn Jones represent the backs. Fairfield's goalkeeper Michael O'Keeffe rounds out the All-MAAC First Team.
The All-MAAC Second Team includes Adam Cowen from Fairfield, Roberto Hernandez from Iona, Josh Faga from Marist and Nicholas Viaggio from Siena at back. The midfielders consist of Loyola's Eddie Dines, Niagara's Levi Tesch, Saint Peter's Harry Newman and Siena's Steve Covino. At forward are Glenn Leitch from Loyola, Mauricio Jimenez from Saint Peter's and Sindre Ek from Siena. Saint Peter's Carlos Suarez serves as goalkeeper on the Second Team.
Headlining the All-Rookie team at back are Marcellin Bilali from Iona, Jamie Libby from Loyola, Tony Carreras from Marist, Nick Garcia from Niagara and Mike Matera from Siena. The midfielders include Munoz, Daniel Shaw from Fairfield, Gerardo Ceja from Marist and James Beeston from Siena. Clements, Orlando Castaneda from Iona and Stephen Dooley from Loyola are the forwards, while Christopher Lands from Manhattan College claimed the goalkeeper duties.
Saint Peter's head coach Guy Abrahamson was named the 2010 Anaconda Sports MAAC Coach of the Year. In his fourth season, he has led the Peacocks to an overall record of 11-5-1, including a 7-1-1 mark in the MAAC, en route to earning the program's first-ever regular season title and the top seed in the 2010 Chick-fil-A MAAC Men's Soccer Championship.
