Niagara Wins Second Consecutive MAAC Volleyball Championship

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. - Top-seeded Niagara defeated second-seeded Iona to win its second straight title at the 2010 MAAC Volleyball Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports' HP Field House.

Niagara, the league's regular season champions after going 17-1 in conference play, took the match in three sets (25-19, 25-14, 25-18). The Purple Eagles were led by junior Hannah Hedrick, who had 18 kills on .400 hitting. Libero Sam Morgan had 22 digs. Niagara becomes the sixth school to to win at least two consecutive MAAC titles.

Hedrick was named the 2010 MAAC Volleyball Championship Most Outstanding Player. Joining her on the All-Tournament team are teammates Morgan and Michelle James, Iona's Colleen Genett and Allison Nieters, Fairfield's Rachel Romansky, and Canisius' Allyson Severyn.

Niagara will receive the MAAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. The selection show will air live on ESPNews between 3 and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28.
