Canisius' Samantha Good Headlines 2010 All-MAAC Volleyball Team

Edison, NJ - Canisius College's Samantha Good has been named the 2010 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year by the league's head coaches and headlines this season's All-MAAC teams.

Good, a sophomore from Rochester, N.Y., finished second in the league with a .332 hitting percentage and was fifth with 2.95 kills per set. She averaged 3.52 points per set as she led the Golden Griffins to a third place regular season finish. Good was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week on three separate occasions.

Loyola University Maryland senior Nina Camaioni was chosen as the 2010 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year. Camaioni, a senior from Williamstown, N.J., averaged 3.18 digs per set and tallied 22 total blocks in conference play.

Niagara University junior Michelle James was selected as the MAAC Setter of the Year for the second straight season. She led the conference with 10.11 assists per set, over half an assist more per set than the next closest player, and was selected as the league's Offensive Player of the Week once. James, a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio, was named MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year in 2008.

Canisius' Allyson Severyn, a sophomore from Lancaster, N.Y., earned 2010 MAAC Libero of the Year honors. She was second in league matches with 5.63 digs per set. Severyn earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 12.

Niagara's Ellen Senf was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year after posting a .316 hitting percentage in league matches, the highest of all freshman. She also averaged 2.17 kills per set and compiled 46 total blocks. Senf, a native of St. Paul, Minn., was selected as MAAC Rookie of the Week two times.

The All-MAAC First Team consists of Good, Camaioni, and James, Iona College's Colleen Genett and Allison Nieters, and Niagara's Hannah Hedrick and Amanda Wilken. Severyn, Fairfield's Brianna Dixion, Iona's Theresa Harvey, Manhattan College's Diane Strutner, Marist College's Grace Hill and Lindsey Schmid, and Siena College's Taylor Akana make up the All-MAAC Second Team.

Manhattan head coach Mark Jones was selected as the 2010 Anaconda Sports MAAC Coach of the Year. Jones, currently in his second season in Riverdale, led the Lady Jaspers to a 11-7 conference record and a fourth place regular season finish, Manhattan's highest since 2006.
