2010 Women's Soccer All-MAAC Teams Announced

Baltimore, Md. - Canisius College junior forward Kelly Reinwald and Loyola University Maryland sophomore forward Nichole Schiro have been named the 2010 MAAC Co-Offensive Players of the Year by the league's head coaches and headline this season's All-MAAC First Team.
Reinwald earned this award after leading the MAAC in scoring during the regular season with 11 goals and 12 assists for 34 points for the Griffs. Schiro is ranked third on the MAAC scoring chart after recording 15 goals and one assist for 31 points for the Greyhounds.
Joining Reinwald and Schiro with First Team All-MAAC honors is Niagara University's Ashleigh Bowers, the 2010 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year. Bowers, a senior goalkeeper for the Purple Eagles, owned a league-best 0.63 goals against average during the regular season and led the conference in save percentage (.888).
Canisius' Brianna Smith was chosen as the 2010 MAAC Rookie of the Year. Smith, a forward for the Golden Griffins, is second in the MAAC in scoring during her inaugural campaign with 14 goals and five assists for 33 points.
In addition to Reinwald, Schiro, Bowers and Smith earning spots on the All-MAAC First Team, Loyola's Lina Staropoli, Marist College's Jessica Arabia and Lauren Tillotson and Niagara's Erin Baker and Jenn Kimoto claimed a spot at the back position. Midfielders include Canisius' Jenny Griffin, Loyola's Kelly Farrell and Siena College's Tabitha Tice. Manhattan College's Caroline Morse also earned a spot on the first team at forward.
The All-MAAC Second Team includes three backs: Alyssa Decker from Fairfield University, Diane Hare from Iona College and Shannon Clancy from Siena. At midfield are Kasey Makowski from Canisius, Chelsea Spencer from Niagara, and Cara Riley and Lindsay Tegas from Siena. Forwards are represented by Jaclynn Sabia from Marist, Abi Cottom from Rider University and Ashleigh Barone from Siena. Marist's Jamie Balzarini rounds out the Second Team at the goalkeeper position.
Headlining the All-Rookie team are Carly Beyar from Fairfield, Kylee McIntosh from Marist, Danielle Kennedy from Niagara and Becca Kape from Rider at back. The midfielders include Rycke Guiney from Marist, Bridgette Bartkowski from Rider and Gabrielle Racines from Siena. Smith, Rider's Jenn Meier and Siena's Brittany Pfaff are the forwards, while Iona's Trista Rivera has the goalkeeper duties.
Rider head coach Drayson Hounsome was named the 2010 Anaconda Sports MAAC Coach of the Year. In his third season at the helm of the Broncs, he has led the team to an overall record of 9-7-2, including a 5-4 mark in the MAAC, en route to earning the fourth seed in the 2010 Chick-fil-A MAAC Women's Soccer Championship.
