Baltimore, MD - The Loyola University men won their second straight conference title, while Marist College claimed the league title on the women's side at the 2010 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships at Loyola University Maryland's Mangione Athletic Center.
Loyola won the men's championship with a score of 794.50. Rider University was second with 718 points. Marist was third with 556 points, followed by Saint Peter's College (419.50), Iona College (327.50), Fairfield University (301), Canisius College (268), Niagara University (233.50), and Manhattan College (94).
Marist took the women's title with a total score of 921. Rider was second with 596.50 points, followed by Siena College (467), Loyola (459), Iona (343), Niagara (316), Fairfield (277), Canisius (175.50), Saint Peter's (110), and Manhattan (55).
Loyola freshman Brennan Morris and Marist freshman Kate Conard set MAAC records for the third consecutive day. Morris shattered the conference mark in the men's 1650-yd. freestyle, breaking the record by over 20 seconds with a time of 15:21.54. The record had stood since 1989. Morris also broke the 1000-yd. freestyle record during the 1650, hitting a split of 9:19.95. Conard broke her third record of the championships, swimming the women's 1650-yd. freestyle in 17:03.16. Rider's Paul Apostolakis posted a new record in the men's 1-meter diving with a score of 334.35.
Morris was named the 2010 MAAC Men's Championship Most Outstanding Swimmer, while Conard earned the Women's Most Outstanding Swimmer award. Rider's Paul Apostolakis and Amanda Burke were named the Men's and Women's Most Outstanding Divers, respectively.
