MAAC Announces 2009-10 Women's Basketball All-Rookie Team

Edison, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has announced the 2009-10 Women’s Basketball All-Rookie Team, as selected by the league’s head coaches.
The All-Rookie Team consists of Fairfield University’s Katelyn Linney, Iona College’s Diana Hubbard, Loyola University Maryland’s Katie Sheahin, Niagara University’s Kayla Stroman, and Rider University’s Caitlin Bopp. One of these five players will be named the 2009-10 Rookie of the Year, also selected by the MAAC head coaches. The Rookie of the Year will be announced at the awards reception on Thursday, March 4th at 5:00 p.m at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y., the site of the 2010 Citizens Bank MAAC Basketball Championships.
Linney, a 5-8 guard from Freehold, N.J., finished the regular season ranked third in the league in three-point field goals made with 2.1 per game. She was third on the team in both scoring (10.6ppg) and assists (2.1apg). She was chosen as the Rookie of the Week six times.
Hubbard, a 5-7 guard from East Orange, N.J., averaged 7.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game. She connected on 35.7% of her attempts from behind the arc and posted a 1.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. Hubbard was selected as the MAAC Rookie of the Week on January 25.
Sheahin, a 5-10 guard from Brookeville, Md., was the Greyhounds’ fourth leading scorer and rebounder with 8.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. She averaged 2.1 steals per game, sixth best in the conference, and blocked 20 shots.
Stroman, a 5-5 guard from Syracuse, N.Y., was third in the conference with 4.4 assists per game and a 1.3 assists-to-turnover ratio. She was seventh in the league with 2.1 steals per contest and also averaged 9.2 points per game. Stroman was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week three times this year.
Bopp, a 6-2 center from Baltimore, Md., was second in the MAAC in rebounding with 9.6 per game. She was third on the team with 8.5 points per game and a 39.1 field-goal percentage. Bopp led the team with 1.0 blocks per game, 10th best in the conference. She earned MAAC rookie of the Week honors five times.
