MAAC Player of the Year Teresa Healy Headlines 2010 All-MAAC Softball Team

Buffalo, N.Y. - Niagara University junior second baseman Teresa Healy has been named the 2010 MAAC Softball Player of the Year and highlights the 2010 All-MAAC Softball Teams chosen by the league's nine head coaches.
Healy leads the league with her .455 batting average, while contributing a league-best .765 slugging percentage and a .497 on-base percentage. She has tallied a conference-high 60 hits, 32 runs scored and 44 RBI over 40 games for the Purple Eagles this season, who ended the regular season at 21-20 overall and 10-6 in MAAC play.
Iona College sophomore right-hander Sarah Jackson was named the 2010 MAAC Pitcher of the Year. Jackson has posted a league-best 1.83 ERA and a 15-6 record on the mound. She has tallied 172 strikeouts in 137.2 innings pitched for the Gaels this season.
Iona freshman outfielder Jodi Petersen was named the 2010 MAAC Rookie of the Year. She owns a .358 batting average, and has registered 53 hits, 29 runs scored and 28 RBI this season for the Gaels.
Healy, Jackson and Petersen were all named to the All-MAAC First Team. The rest of the team includes Canisius' Michelle Fridey at catcher, as well as fellow Griff Paige Freiberger, Iona's Allyssa James and Manhattan College's Melissa Donnelly and Healy in the infield. The outfield is comprised of Petersen along with Lizzy Gatto and Lauren Hope from Canisius. Manhattan's Jaci Rahey is the designated player, while Rider University's Amanda Centeno is the utility player. Jackson and Caroline Main from Canisius were selected as the pitchers of the All-MAAC First Team.
The All-MAAC Second Team includes Melanie Gettins of Iona at catcher, while Emily Helbig from Canisius, Tessa Earley from Iona, Nicole Michel from Manhattan, Nicole DiVirgilio from Marist College, Maggie McDonald from Niagara and Shannon Jones from Siena earned a spot in the infield. The outfield includes Fairfield University's Meghan Borst and Niagara's Jenna Baker and Kristin Kill. Iona's Eileen McCann is the designated player, while Fairfield's Kristina Lingo the utility player. Canisius' Amanda Baun, Manhattan's Erika Sullivan and Niagara's Julie DiMatteo round out the All-MAAC Second Team as the pitchers.
Iona head coach Jaime Wohlbach was named as the 2010 Anaconda Sports MAAC Coach of the Year. Wohlbach, in her third year at the helm of the Gaels, guided Iona to a 25-24 record during the regular season, including a 13-3 mark in the MAAC and a share of the 2010 MAAC Softball Regular-Season Title.
