Niagara Eliminates Manhattan with 2-1 Win in Game Four of the 2010 MAAC Softball Championship

Buffalo, N.Y. - Third-seeded Niagara University (22-21) took a 2-1 victory over fourth-seeded Manhattan College (25-23-1) in game four of the 2010 MAAC Softball Championship at the Demske Sports Complex on the campus of Canisius College.

The Purple Eagles got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning, with Jenna Baker sending a home run over the left field wall.

The Jaspers tied things up in top of the fifth as pinch runner Michelle Roemer scored on a sacrifice fly by Kristina Walraven.

The winning run came in the bottom of the eighth as Kristin Kill walked home after the bases were loaded with one out.

Niagara's Julie DiMatteo improved to 15-6 on the mound, while Manhattan's Melissa Donnelly ended the season at 7-12.

Niagara will play Canisius in Game 5 at approximately 3:15 p.m. today.
