MAAC Announces 2009-10 Academic Honor Roll

Edison, N.J. - A total of 1,055 athletes were honored for their achievements both academically and athletically as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the 2009-10 MAAC Academic Honor Roll.

To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, an athlete must hold a grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale and be in his or her second year of athletic eligibility.  The Honor Roll is open to both full-time and associate members of the MAAC with athletes represented in all 24 sports that the conference sponsors.

Marist College heads the list of honored student-athletes with 168, followed by Iona College with 116 and Fairfield University with 100.  The rest of the list is as follows: Loyola University 99, Niagara University 97, Manhattan College 93, Canisius College 92, Rider University and Siena College 81, and Saint Peter's College 57.  Among the associate members, Wagner College, which competed in the MAAC Men's Lacrosse League and the MAAC Women's Water Polo League, has the most with 17.
