ESPN3 to Broadcast MAAC Men's Soccer Championship
MAAC Sports
Edison, N.J. - The 2011 MAAC Men's Soccer
Championship
held at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida will mark the third time
that ESPN3 broadcasts a MAAC event from their Disney studio located at the
complex. The partnership with ESPN3 began with the live broadcasts of the MAAC
Volleyball Championship in 2010 and was followed with highlight reels of the
2011 MAAC Men's & Women's Golf Championships.
Five of the nine games at the complex will be shown live on ESPN3 including the
semifinals on Sunday, Nov. 6 and championship game on Monday, Nov. 7. In
addition, ESPN3 will broadcast the two quarterfinals on Field 17. These two
contests on Friday, Nov. 4 will feature the number one and number two seeded
teams. ESPN3 will also provide live cut-ins of the two quarterfinal match-ups
on Field 18.
"The growth of the MAAC's
relationship with ESPN3 is a key focus of the league's new five-year strategic
plan," notes MAAC Commissioner, Richard J. Ensor, Esq. "The opportunities
presented at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex at Walt Disney World to
further expand ESPN3's coverage of MAAC sports including men's soccer on ESPN3
assists with the plan's goal. This year's fall championship at Disney includes
more coverage than the 2010 Volleyball and 2011 Men's & Women's Golf
Championships including two quarterfinal round games. I want to thank Mike
Colangelo and his team at ESPN3 Disney for their assistance and support of the
broadcasts."
"We are excited to welcome the MAAC back to Disney and
partner with them to broadcast their games on ESPN3," Mike Colangelo, Manager
of Broadcast Production and Operations at ESPN Wide World of Sports, noted.
"The MAAC and ESPN Wide World of Sports have enhanced the coverage to ensure
that every goal and every angle will be covered. We are stepping up the
production for these events by multiple HD cameras, enhanced field audio and
advanced graphics. We have the ability to show multiple angles of replays to
bring the fans closer to the action. If you happen to miss the game, you will
able to see all the action from Quarterfinals through the Championship game
through highlights on MAACSports.com or complete games on ESPN3.com replay."
The
talent for the broadcasts of the MAAC Men's Soccer Championship will include
Ian Fuller, a former Major League Soccer Player who currently plays and coaches Orlando City
of the USL, and ESPN play-by-play
announcer Kevin Corke.
Highlights
of the games will be available on MAACSports.com. Full-length archived games can be viewed on WatchESPN.com.
