Field Set for 2011 Chick-fil-A MAAC Women's Soccer Championship

Following the conclusion of the regular season Sunday, the seeds are set for the 2011 MAAC Chick-fil-A Women's Soccer Championship, which will take place Nov. 4 and 6 at the Ridley Athletic Complex on the campus of Loyola University Maryland.

The first semifinal on Friday, November 4 will be between top-seeded Marist College and fourth-seeded Fairfield University at 4:00 p.m. In their regular season matchup, the Red Foxes took a 1-0 victory over the Stags on October 2 in Fairfield, Conn. Junior Jackie Frey scored the lone goal of the contest just 1:56 into the contest. Freshman Andrea Wicks made eight saves in goal for the Red Foxes.

The second semifinal will feature second-seeded Niagara University against third-seeded Loyola. On October 9, the Greyhounds claimed a 3-2 victory over their host the Purple Eagles. Sophomore Breanna Catipovic scored the first goal for Niagara just over five minutes into the contest, but Loyola responded with three goals of their own, capped off in the 89th minute when sophomore Chantal Celestin netted a long shot into the back of the net. Niagara's Julianne Viviano netted the final goal of the night a minute later, converting a penalty kick. Loyola's Didi Haracic collected three saves, while Niagara's Gabrielle Wilson recorded six saves.

The championship final will take place on Sunday, November 6 at 1:00 p.m. The winner of that match will receive the league's automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship.
