Barrow and Kates Earn Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

Maurice Barrow, Fairfield, So., F, 6-5, 210, Hollis, N.Y./Christ the King
Barrow scored a game-high 19 points by making 8-of-11 field goal attempts to lead the Stags to a 72-60 win over Quinnipiac University. He also tied for the team-high with six rebounds, and added a team-best three steals. Barrow established a career-high for scoring with his effort, and tied his personal best in steals.
Rookie of the Week
Donovan Kates, Manhattan, Fr., G, 6-6, 200, Hopkinsville, Ky./Christian County High School
Kates anchored a game-changing second-half surge, which allowed the Jaspers to overcome a seven-point deficit to earn a 62-48 victory over NJIT on Saturday at Draddy Gymnasium. He finished with 10 points, including two key 3-pointers to help send Manhattan off with its fifth consecutive season opening victory. Kates poured in eight points of 10 unanswered over a critical three-minute scoring rush that enabled Manhattan to take a lead it would not relinquish. He shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line and grabbed two rebounds in his first collegiate start.
