2011 Men's Soccer All-MAAC Teams Announced at Disney

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. - Niagara University senior
forward Carl Haworth was chosen as the 2011 MAAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player
of the Year by the league's head coaches and headlines this season's All-MAAC
First Team. The awards banquet was held at Walt Disney World's
Animal Kingdom park.
Haworth, now
a two-time All-MAAC first team selection from Barrie, Ontario, Canada, earned
the honor after leading the conference with 32 points (1.88 per game) from 12
goals and eight assists. His goals were also tops in the MAAC and the eight
assists placed him second on the league chart. Haworth was named the MAAC
Rookie of the Year in 2008.
Fairfield
University's Michael O'Keeffe, a junior goalkeeper from Christchurch, New
Zealand, was voted as the 2011 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year. In conference
play, he finished second in goals against average (0.84) and third in save
percentage (.778). O'Keeffe has been a first team All-MAAC selection in all
three seasons at Fairfield.
Fairfield's
Jordan Ayris was selected as the 2011 MAAC Rookie of the Year following an
outstanding freshman campaign which has seen him register nine goals and four
assists for 22 points. Ayris was even better in league play, leading the MAAC
with 16 points and six goals.
O'Keeffe
anchors the All-MAAC First Team as its goalkeeper. Teammate Jonny Raj is part
of the backline along with Iona's Robbie Krohmer, and Loyola's Gerwyn Jones.
Haworth leads the midfield three with Iona's Franklin Castellanos, and Marist's
Krystian Witkowski. Ayris is part of the first team with teammate Jon Clements,
Iona's Samuel Adjei and Angser Otto, Loyola's Stephen Dooley, and Marist's
Stephan Brossard.
The All-MAAC
Second Team features Siena goalkeeper Jack Binks and defenders Jack Cleverley
of Fairfield, Alex Abdalla of Iona, Jamie Libby of Loyola, and Jannis Opalka
from Siena. The midfield is made up of Fairfield's Dan Shaw, Iona's Alvaro
Torrecilla, Loyola's Geaton Caltabiano, Saint Peter's Harry Newman, and Siena's
Sindre Ek. The trio of Fairfield's Jack Burridge, Iona's Ignacio Maganto, and
Saint Peter's Noah Sadaoui make up the forward line.
The
All-Rookie team is led by Ayris, Maganto and Sadaoui at forward. The midfield
features Fairfield's Hrvoje Glavan, Loyola's Connor Thompson, and Siena's
Nathan Olukanmi. The backline consists of Marist's Dylan Lee and Matt
Wendelken, Rider's Jens Warncke, and Siena's Falko Friedrichs. Iona's Borja Barbero
and Siena's Jack Binks share the goalkeeping duties.
Fairfield
head coach Carl Rees was named the 2011 Anaconda Sports MAAC Coach of the Year.
In the midst of his 16th season at the helm of the Stags, Rees
guided his team to an undefeated 8-0-1 mark in league play en route to the
regular season championship and the top seed at the MAAC Championship.
