Loyola Men, Marist Women Take Early Lead in Day One of the 2011 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships

Buffalo, N.Y. - The men's program from Loyola University Maryland and the Marist College women's swimming and diving teams lead all schools after the first day of competition in the 2011 MAAC Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, held at the Flickinger Athletic Center on the campus of Erie Community College.

The Loyola men lead after scoring 209 points earlier today, while second-place Rider registered 196 points.  Marist College is in third with 164 points, followed by Iona College (121), Canisius College (113), Niagara University (104), Saint Peter's College (103), Fairfield University (80) and Manhattan College (38).

On the women's side, Marist has tallied 247 points, while Rider stands in second place (171.5).  Loyola is in third with 145 points, followed by Siena College (138.5), Iona (103), Niagara (101), Fairfield (95), Canisius (87), Saint Peter's (36) and Manhattan (32).

A pair of MAAC records was broken during today's sessions.  Kate Conard from Marist reset the record in the 500-freestyle with a time of 4:51.88.  Loyola's Brennan Morris set a new time in the men's 500-yard freestyle with a mark of 4:26.51.
