Bounce to the Arena on Sunday, March 6 in Bridgeport
MAAC Sports
Edison, NJ - Bounce to the Arena is an opportunity for
anyone of the ages 6-16 to celebrate the 2011 Spark Energy MAAC Men's Basketball
Championship Semifinals on Sunday, March 6.
Participants will create
a parade by dribbling their basketballs through downtown Bridgeport to arrive
at Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard for the men's semifinal scheduled
for 2:00 p.m. The Bounce will be starting at People's United Bank on Main Street
in Bridgeport, Conn. Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the Bounce is scheduled to leave at 12:30 p.m.
The Bounce to the Arena is modeled after the 2009 NCAA Women's Final Four
March to the Arch, which turned out to be a huge success drawing over 3,000
participants in St. Louis. Last year's Bounce in Albany, N.Y. drew close to 100
participants. The MAAC, in cooperation with the Fairfield PAL and Bridgeport
PAL (Police Athletic League), is working to encourage community support and
participation for the Bounce.
Participants will receive admission into both men's semifinal games and a basketball,
compliments of the MAAC and Anaconda Sports. Parents, coaches, and guardians
are asked to accompany their children/teams before and during the Bounce and
upon arrival to the arena. Tickets will be available at the Webster Bank Arena
at Harbor Yard Box Office to ensure that guardians can sit with their children
and/or teams for the game. Eligible youth are encouraged to pre-register by
filling out and sending the registration
form, along with a check, to the address listed on the form. Walk-up registration
will also be available at People's United Bank the morning of the Bounce.
Come experience everything Bridgeport and MAAC Basketball have to offer by
Bouncing to the Arena!
