MAAC Announces 2010-11 Women's Basketball All-Rookie Team

Edison, NJ - The
Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has announced the 2010-11 Women's Basketball
All-Rookie Team, as selected by the league's head coaches.
The All-Rookie Team consists of Canisius College's Jen
Morabito and Jamie Ruttle, Manhattan College's Monica Roeder, Rider University's
MyNeshia McKenzie, and Saint Peter's College's Aziza May. One of these five
players will be named the 2010-11 Rookie of the Year, also selected by the MAAC
head coaches. The Rookie of the Year
will be announced at the awards reception on Thursday, March 3 at 5:00 p.m at
Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Conn., the site of the 2011 Spark
Energy MAAC Basketball Championships.
Morabito, a 5-9 guard from Binghamton, N.Y., is second among
MAAC rookies in 3-point field goals made with 43. She was also third overall in
3-point field goal percentage, connecting on 37.1% of her long range attempts.
Morabito averaged 8.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. She was named the
league's Rookie of the Week twice this season.
Ruttle, a 6-4 forward from Burlington, Ontario, averaged 9.8
points per game in league contests, the most among all freshman. She is also on
track to become just the third freshman in program history to lead the team in
scoring. Ruttle earned Rookie of the Week honors twice this season.
Roeder, a 6-0 guard/forward from Marlton, N.J., led all
league rookies with 9.1 points per game. She was fourth in the MAAC with 1.7
3-point field goals made per game. Roeder was named Player of the Week on
November 15 and Rookie of the Week on four separate occasions.
McKenzie, a 5-11 guard/forward from Springfield, Pa., had a
stellar rookie campaign as she averaged 9.7 points per conference game, second
most among rookies, and 8.2 rebounds per league game, second in the league. She
was named Rookie of the Week twice in 2011.
May, a 5-3 guard from South Euclid, Ohio, was third in the
league with 3.2 assists per game. She started all 29 games for the Peahens and averaged
5.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per contest. May converted 80.8% of her free throw
attempts.
