Marist Wins 2011 MAAC Men's Tennis Championship

Flushing, N.Y. - Marist won its fourth straight league title with a 6-0 victory over Fairfield in the 2011 MAAC Men's Tennis Championship at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

The Red Foxes jumped out to a 1-0 advantage after winning two of the doubles matches. At first doubles, Nicholas Pisecky and Landon Greene won, 8-6, and Joris Van Eck and Matt Himmelsbach picked up a victory (8-4) at second position.

Marist received wins from Lorenzo Rossi at first singles (6-3, 6-3), Joris Van Eck at second singles (6-3, 6-1), Nicholas Pisecky at third singles (6-2, 6-4), Matt Himmelsbach at fourth singles (6-2, 6-3), and Will Reznek at sixth singles (6-0, 6-1) to secure the victory.

Himmelsbach was named the 2011 MAAC Men's Tennis Championship Most Outstanding Performer.

Marist will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
