MAAC Player of the Year Teresa Healy Headlines 2011 All-MAAC Softball Team

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Niagara University senior second baseman Teresa Healy has been named the 2011 MAAC Softball Player of the Year and highlights the 2011 All-MAAC Softball Teams chosen by the league's nine head coaches.

Healy, who wins this award for the second year in a row, led the league during the regular season with her .425 batting average, while contributing a league-best .867 slugging percentage and a .524 on-base percentage. She tallied 51 hits, 36 runs scored and 39 RBI over 40 games for the Purple Eagles this season.

Fairfield University senior Sarah Minice was named the 2011 MAAC Pitcher of the Year. Minice has posted a league-best 1.26 ERA and a 16-8 record on the mound. She has tallied 173 strikeouts in 155.1 innings pitched for the Stags this season and held her opponents to a .214 batting average.

Fairfield freshman infielder Lauren Liseth was named the 2011 MAAC Rookie of the Year. She owns a .315 batting average, and has registered 47 hits, 36 runs scored and 32 RBI this season for the Stags, who won the MAAC regular-season title and the top seed in the 2011 MAAC Championship.

Healy and Minice were named to the All-MAAC First Team. The rest of the team includes Niagara's Becky Zill at catcher, as well as Fairfield's Kristina Lingo, Marist's Nicole DiVirgilio, Healy and Siena College's Shannon Jones in the infield. The outfield is comprised of Lauren Hope from Canisius College, Mikayla Shumate from Fairfield and Kristina Walraven from Manhattan. Manhattan's Jaci Rahey is the designated player, while Iona College's Alyssa Maiese is the utility player. Minice and Sarah Jackson from Iona were selected as the pitchers of the All-MAAC First Team.

The All-MAAC Second Team includes Megan Lamoureux of Marist at catcher, while Paige Freiberger and Emily Helbig from Canisius, Kristen Filicia from Fairfield, Melissa Donnelly from Manhattan College and Jen Hare from Niagara each earned a spot in the infield. The outfield includes Canisius' Lizzy Gatto, Manhattan's Monica Evangelista and Marist's Ashley Corriss. Marist's Sarah Carmody is the designated player, while Liseth the utility player. Emily Osterhaus from Marist and Rachael Matreale from Rider University round out the All-MAAC Second Team as the pitchers.

Marist College head coach Joe Ausanio was named as the 2011 Anaconda Sports MAAC Coach of the Year. Ausiano, in his third year at the helm of the Red Foxes, guided Marist to a 32-20 record during the regular season, including a 12-4 mark in the MAAC and the third seed in this year's championship.
