Player of the Week
Samantha Good, Canisius, Sr., Middle Hitter, 5-10, Rochester,
N.Y./Greece-Arcadia
Good
led the Canisius offense by posting 11 kills in both wins last week as Canisius
improved to 6-0 in the MAAC. Good averaged 3.14 kills per set and hit .375 on
the weekend. The 5-foot-10 middle hitter averaged 1.57 blocks per set,
including a 10-block performance at Manhattan to help end the Jaspers'
five-match winning streak. She also had six service aces, including five at Saint
Peter's. Good also become the ninth player in program history to reach 1,000
career kills.
Libero of the Week
Kelsey Huntoon, Manhattan, Sr., Libero, 5-10, Monroe, Mich./St.
Mary Central Catholic
Huntoon contributed 6.73 digs per set last week, as the Jaspers
went 2-1 against Rider, Niagara and Canisius.
After tallying 16 digs in the three-set sweep of Rider on Wednesday
night, she notched 28 digs and three assists in the victory over Niagara on
Saturday. Huntoon then had 30 digs, her
second 30-dig performance of the season, to go along with three assists and a
service ace against Canisius on Sunday.
Rookie of the Week
Sydney Volvoski, Manhattan, Fr., Outside Hitter, 6-0,
Oswego, Ill./Oswego
Volovski recorded 3.18 kills per set and hit a combined .318
against Rider, Niagara and Canisius last week.
In the Jaspers' 3-0 sweep of Rider on Wednesday night, Volovski pounded
11 kills and didn't commit an error, hitting .500 in the victory. She added three blocks, two assists and two
digs against the Broncs. Then on
Saturday, she recorded 15 kills and hit .355, as Manhattan snapped a six-match
losing streak against Niagara. Volovski
capped the week by tallying nine kills and three blocks against Canisius on
Sunday.
