MAAC Announces 2012 Women's Soccer All-MAAC Teams

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Loyola
University Maryland senior forward Nichole Schiro has been selected as the 2012
MAAC Offensive Player of the Year by the league's head coaches and headlines
this season's All-MAAC First Team.
Schiro earned
this award for the third consecutive year after finishing the regular season
on top of the MAAC scoring chart with 14 goals and four assists for 32 points
for the Greyhounds.
Joining
Schiro with First Team All-MAAC honors is Fairfield University's Alli Walsh,
the 2012 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year.
Walsh, a senior back, started 17 of the Stags' 18 games this season and
helped the Fairfield defensive unit secure an 8-1 record in MAAC play, en route
to Fairfield earning a share of the MAAC regular season title.
Loyola's Didi
Haracic was chosen as the 2012 MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year. Haracic, a junior goalkeeper for the Greyhounds,
owned a 0.94 goals against average during the regular season, good for fourth
place in the MAAC. She has also recorded
a .832 save percentage, 89 saves and five shutouts.
Niagara
University's Haille Price and Rider University's Tara Bally were named the 2012
MAAC Rookies of the Year. Price, a
forward for the Purple Eagles, and Ballay, a midfielder for the Broncs, both finished
the year tied for 10th place in the MAAC in scoring with four goals
and three assists for 11 points each.
Schiro,
Walsh and Haracic all earned spots on the All-MAAC First Team. Loyola's Kelsey Rene and Marist College's
Chelsea Botta claimed spots at the back position. Midfielders include Fairfield's
Lauren Reilly and Nicole Stanton, Loyola's Gigi Mangione, Marist's Rycke Guiney
and Rider University's Jenn Meier. Also earning a spot on the first team at
forward are Brianna Smith from Canisius College, Amanda Epstein from Marist,
Abi Cottam from Rider and Caitlin Cahalan from Siena College.
The All-MAAC Second
Team includes five backs: Megan O'Brien from Fairfield, Laura Jackson and Leah
Taylor from Iona College, and Jessica Arabia and Kylee McIntosh from Marist. At
midfield are Tessa McClenahan from Loyola, Marjana Maksuti and Samantha Panzner
from Marist and Brittany Pfaff from Siena. Forwards are represented by Erin
Pettersen from Fairfield, Aislinn McIlvenny from Manhattan College and Jamie
Raepple from Niagara University. Manhattan's Kara Davis rounds out the Second
Team at the goalkeeper position.
On the All-Rookie team, the backs include: Rosy Hayes from Loyola,
Taylor Salkowsky from Manhattan, Alysa Murphy from Marist, Haley Besaw and
Rachel Garvey from Niagara, and Shanay Fischer from Saint Peter's University. Joining Ballay at midfield are Emily
Wieczorek from Fairfield, Maria Siegrist from Niagara and Kirby O'Keefe from
Siena. Price, Emily Ude from Manhattan
and Kelly Ristoff from Siena are the forwards, while Niagara's Claire Feiertag has
the goalkeeper duties.
Fairfield
head coach Jim O'Brien was named the 2012 Anaconda Sports MAAC Coach of the
Year. In his eighth season at the helm
of the Stags, he has led the team to an overall record of 11-5-2, including an 8-1
mark in the MAAC, a share of the MAAC regular season title and the second seed
in the 2012 MAAC Women's Soccer Championship.
