After a weeklong hiatus, the men's and women's cross country teams will
jaunt up I-95 to Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Conn. for the
2012 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship
on November 9. The event is being co-hosted by Fairfield and Yale
Universities. The women's 6K begins at 12pm followed by the men's 10K at
1:15pm.
Last season,
Maureen Crimmins and
Connor Kelley paced
the women's and men's cross country teams at the 2011 NCAA Regional in
Buffalo, N.Y. Crimmins clocked a 23:12.4 in the women's 6K to help the
Stags improve five spots as Fairfield tied for 27th place with the
University of Rhode Island. Kelley posted a time of 33:59.4 in the men's
10K to help the men's team to a 25th place finish, a jump of eight
spots from one year ago.
Syracuse University repeated as the men's and women's NCAA Regional
champions last season. Iona College's Leonard Korir captured the men's
10K individual title with a time of 31:10.4 while Dartmouth College's
Abby D'Agostino captured the women's 6K individual title with a time of
20:25.3.
Fairfield and Yale Universities are co-hosting the NCAA Northeast
Regionals for the second time in three years. The schools hosted the
2010 NCAA Regionals at Hammonasset Beach State Park.
The Stags will close out their 2012 campaign at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park on November 17.
