Sheahin
recorded a season-best 25 points against Army, handing the Black Knights their
second-consecutive loss, and third of the season. The senior guard also tabbed a season-best
eight shots from the field, while tying her career-high 8-8 from the charity
stripe. In 39 minutes of action, Sheahin grabbed four rebounds, five assists,
and one steal.
Rookie of the Week
Mikal Johnson, Rider, Freshman, G, 5-8, Manassas, Va. / Osbourn
Johnson helped lead Rider's
effort with two clutch second half plays in Rider's 65-48 road win at Pitt on
December 16, scoring six points, Johnson added two rebounds, an assist and a
blocked shot in the Bronc win. In the opening half, Johnson forced a turnover
that led to a fast break and layup as Rider broke a 17-17 tie. In the second
half, tied at 24, Johnson was fouled on a three-point attempt and knocked down
all three free throws, giving Rider a 27-24 lead. With the Broncs trailing
29-27, Johnson nailed a three-pointer that put Rider back in the lead
30-29.
