MAAC Men's Basketball Players of the Week Announced

Player of the Week
Erik Etherly, Loyola, Jr., F, 6-7, 225, Alexandria, Va./Annandale H.S.

Etherly led Loyola with a 19.5 points per game average in two games last week, and he also topped the team with 19 total rebounds, a 9.5 per game mark. On Friday night, Etherly helped lead the Greyhounds to an 87-81 victory over Iona in a battle for first place in the league. He scored 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting and logged his eighth double-double of the season with 10 rebounds. Etherly also blocked two shots, had three assists and a steal. In Sunday's game against Iona, he tallied 17 points and nine rebounds while passing out two assists. Etherly has now scored in double-digits for eight straight games, and he has posted 15 or more in all but one of those contests.


Rookie of the Week
Juan'ya Green, Niagara, Fr., G, 6-3, 195, Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll

Green averaged 22 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game 5.0 assists per game and 2.5 steals per game to help Niagara to victories over Siena and Rider. He orchestrated two last-second wins for the Purple Eagles. Against Siena, Green scored 16 points, had a game-high six assists and went 7-for-8 at the free-throw line, which included going 2-for-2 at the line with Niagara up 56-54 to seal Niagara's fourth straight home win versus Siena. He had a larger impact in Sunday's dramatic comeback win versus Rider after trailing by 17 points in the second half. Green engineered the rally, scoring 22 of his game-high 28 points in the second half while having all of his four assists and three steals in the half. His final assist led to the game-winning dunk with 3.7 seconds remaining. Green ended the week shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 84.6 percent from the free throw line while averaging 37.5 minutes per game. He led Niagara in scoring, rebounds, free throws, assists and steals. Green is now five points shy of tying the Niagara freshman scoring record of 467 points, which was set in 1978.
