Rider Men, Marist Women Lead Swimming and Diving Championships

Buffalo, N.Y. - The men's program from Rider University and the Marist College women's swimming and diving teams lead all schools after the first day of competition in the 2012 MAAC Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, held at the Flickinger Athletic Center on the campus of Erie Community College.

The Rider men lead after scoring 234 points earlier today, while second-place Marist registered 180 points. Canisius College is in third with 159 points, followed by Loyola University Maryland (141), Fairfield University (107), Saint Peter's College (96), Iona College (79), Niagara University (69) and Manhattan College (62).

On the women's side, Marist has tallied 264.50 points, while Rider stands in second place (176.5). Loyola is in third with 144 points, followed by Iona (115), Fairfield (106), Canisius (101.50), Niagara (90), Siena College (78.50), Saint Peter's (48) and Manhattan (32).

In the evening session, Rider's Johnny Funk set both a MAAC and ECC pool record in the 200 IM with this time of 1:47.56. The Marist women's 400 medley relay team of Kate Conard, Greta Leberfinger, Emily Miles and Michelle Fountain reset the MAAC record time for the event, finishing in 3:48.42.
