Iona College graduate
student Mitch Goose highlighted the 2012 MAAC Indoor Track and Field
Championship, running the second fastest and second-ever sub-four minute mile
in Iona College history. He was named the meet's Most Outstanding Track
Performer for his efforts. Goose ran a 3:59.26 mile, topping former Gael great
Richard Kiplagat's MAAC Championship record 4:02.58 set in 2005. He was more
than 12 seconds faster than teammate Daniel Lipus (4:11.67), the race runner
up. Earning third place for Iona was junior
Chris Stogsdill (4:12.23) who nipped Rider's Mike Soroko by one-hundredth of a
second. Freshman Otis Ubriaco and junior Jimmy Tarsnane were seventh and ninth overall.
While Goose erased Kiplagat's MAAC record, the former Iona
standout still holds the school record with his 3:57.40 mile at the 2006 Gotham
Cup at the Armory.
